Box Score CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas State second baseman Kelli Baker's three-RBI performance gave starting pitcher Randi Rupp enough run support to improve to 13-4 on the year, as the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team managed a single hit against the Bobcats righty in a 3-0 loss at Chapman Field on Tuesday afternoon.

Despite tallying four strikeouts through the first two innings, Islanders (11-12, 1-2 Southland) starting pitcher Stephanie Flores (0-3, 2.45 ERA) found herself down a pair of runs after Baker notched a two-out two-RBI single in the top of the second.
The Bobcats (19-7, 1-2 Sun Belt) second baseman added an insurance run in the fourth with another RBI single up the middle to extend the lead to 3-0.
Flores finished her day scattering five hits with five strikeouts, but three earned runs and six walks hindered efforts for the Mercedes native to record her first win of the season.
After becoming the second pitcher in Islanders history to reach the elusive 300-career strikeout mark, Liz Carter stepped into the circle to add to that tally with three punchouts in the sixth and seventh innings.
In the bottom half of the innings, Rupp showed why she came into the series ranked fourth in the nation in wins and strikeouts. The sophomore struck out seven out of the first eight Islanders to the plate.
Savannah Sandoval, in her first start of the year replacing an injured Dani Tefft, picked up the lone hit against the Bobcats in the bottom of the third. The Magnolia native scurried down line to beat a throw from third.
After that, Rupp retired the next six batters with four punchouts to cap her outing with 10, before Quincy Charleston came for the final six outs to record her first save of the season.
Of note, the Islanders played without committing an error for the second time in six games. The Blue and Green is 5-4 when fielding 1.000 for a game.
