Box Score COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A six-run third inning for No. 14 Texas A&M, generated by a grand slam by Kristen Cuyos, pushed the Aggies to a 10-0 victory in five innings against the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team on Saturday in the final game of the Texas A&M Invitational. Cosette Hernandez, Dani Tefft and Candice Hadd picked up hits for the Islanders (7-8) in the loss.

"We have to use this weekend as a learning experience," head coach Stephanie Hughes said after the game. "These were great teams, and we needed to use these games to help us prepare for Southland Conference play.
Liz Carter (4-5, 4.05 ERA) stepped into the circle for the Blue and Green and had control of the most potent offense in the country through two innings, striking out a pair and retiring six of her first nine batters.
In the third, Texas A&M broke the game open with a pair of runs with no outs, before loading the bases for Cuyos to make it 7-0 in favor of the hosts. The Aggies added three more runs in the fourth, including a two-RBI single from Ashley Walters.
A&M-Corpus Christi battled back in the top of the fourth as Carter came to the dish with the bases loaded and no outs. Aggies pitcher Katie Marks (3-0, 1.67 ERA) worked herself out of the jam with three consecutive outs to cap her complete game with a pair of strikeouts and allowing three hits.
Carter finished her weekend surrendering 10 earned runs on 10 hits, while fanning a pair of Aggies and walking four.
ON DECK
The Islanders return home for nine of the next 10 games at Chapman Field. UTSA kicks off the homestand with a midweek contest at 3 p.m. The first 200 fans to the game will receive an Islanders t-shirt, courtesy of Terry Mendez of KM Premier Real Estate.
