CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –  The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's cross country team rose back up the regional rankings this week, while the women's squad made the cut for the first time in 2016, as announced by the USTFCCCA on Monday.

The men's team has found itself in the polls each week of the season, but the Islanders' ranking of eighth in the South Central Region matches its best of 2016. The Blue and Green are the third of three straight Southland teams on the list, following Lamar and Stephen F. Austin, who rank sixth and seventh, respectively.

The women find themselves ranked for the first time in 2016, cracking the list at number 15 this week. The Islanders are one of three Southland Conference teams in the South Central Region rankings. Stephen F. Austin is currently sixth, while Lamar is just ahead of A&M-Corpus Christi at 14
th.

The Islanders are coming off of a pair of victories at the Incarnate Word Invitational on Oct. 8. Both teams defeated Southland foes Incarnate Word and Abilene Christian, as well as regional rival UTRGV in San Antonio. Freshman
Morgan McCutchen was named Southland Conference Runner of the Week for her win at the meet.

Both men's and women's cross country will next compete at the Southland Championships on Oct. 28 in Nacogdoches.
