Tarronga, Spain – The single-season double-double record holder for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball program Olivia Fouty has signed a professional contract with TGN Basketball Club in Tarronga, Spain. Fouty is the second player under the guidance of Royce Chadwick to play professional basketball, after Tynikki Crook singing for clubs in Spain.
"We are so proud of Olivia's accomplishments," Islanders women's basketball head coach Royce Chadwick said. "Her hard work and dedication has taken her career to the next level. We are excited to watch her represent the Islanders name in the professional game."
Fouty opened her professional career with a double-double performance off the bench for the Catalan club. The Toledo, Ohio, native scored 18 points and picked up 11 rebounds after practicing with the team twice since arriving to the Spanish coast.
In her only season at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Fouty was one of the most productive players on the team, averaging 11.7 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. The graduate-transfer from Eastern Michigan compiled a single-season school record ten double-doubles. She had a season-high 21 points in the Islanders win at New Orleans on 8-of-13 shooting from the field. Fouty picked up the second most defensive rebounds (161) and the fifth highest rebounding average in school history at 8.6 per game.
Chadwick's first player to play professional basketball, Tynikki Crook, averaged 29 points and 11 rebounds last season for IF Air Europa S'Arenal in Spain.
