2015 Bob Hurley ORU Shootout
Live Stats
Corpus Christi, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team will travel Tulsa, Okla. for the Bob Hurley ORU Shootout on Monday and Tuesday. Oral Roberts is hosting the event at Meadowbrook Country Club, a par-72, 6,261-yard course redesigned in 1997.
The Islanders opened their 2015-16 season at the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate Tournament at Ridgewood Country Club, hosted by the University of Memphis, two weeks ago. Vanessa Johnson finished tied for 29th place with a 20-over, 233, to lead the Islanders in her first competitive tournament in over a year. Freshman Dani Bergmann produced a 23-over, 236, to tie for 46th, as A&M-Corpus Christi finished tied for 11th with a 92-over, 944.
"We've got one tournament under our belt this season," head coach Carol Blackmar said. "I was pleased with Vanessa's performance in her first competitive event in more than a year, and Dani was able to acclimate to the college game in Memphis. I think both of them will do well in this upcoming tournament.
"We had some good practices this week," added Blackmar. "We played out at the Pamilla Beach Golf Club to prepare ourselves for the tournament. Meadowbrook will offer a challenge to our players. It's a course that generally plays long, which will test our course management skills. I'm excited for what we can do at this tournament. It will be the next step in our progression towards conference competition."
2014 ORU Shootout
Last year, the Islanders shot a 54-hole total of 100-over, 952, to finish in 10th place. Ana Paredes shot 20-over, 233, to tie for 38th place and lead A&M-Corpus Christi.
Paredes, Julia Dereniwsky and Anna Millet-Esteve will return to Meadowbrook Country Club, after participating in the event last year. Johnson finished second at the 2013 tournament with a six-over, 222.
