Dallas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi outside hitter Ivy Baresh has been named Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Islanders attack in a 3-1 week and turning in three double-doubles.
Baresh amassed 60 kills in her 15 sets of action, marking her best four-game stretch of the season and best since her sophomore campaign. The senior exploded against Louisiana Tech to match her career-high of 21 kills en route to hitting .250 for the week.
In the week's finale with Alabama State, Baresh played a pivotal role in sparking the Islanders rally from down two sets to clinch the UCA Invitational. The senior entered in the third set and produced six kills, turning the momentum in favor of the Islanders. A&M-Corpus Christi would go on to win the third set 25-15 and Baresh finished the match with 11 kills and added four service aces to tally 15 points in just three sets.
Following the impressive week, Baresh has now racked up double-digit kills in six-consecutive matches. The senior leads the Islanders with 148 kills on the season, meaning 41-percent of her kills came in the past week.
The honors mark the second consecutive week in which an Islander has garnered Player of the Week attention after libero Kate Klepetka hauled in defensive honors a week ago.
Baresh and the Islanders return to action Tuesday night in the Dugan Wellness Center with a 6:30 p.m. match versus Prairie View.
