Corpus Christi – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team finished tied for 11th place at the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate Golf Tournament on Monday. The University of Memphis hosted the tournament at Ridgewood Country Club. Vanessa Johnson carded a seven-over, 78, to lead the Islanders and finished the tournament tied for 29th place with a 20-over, 233.
Dani Bergmann capped her first collegiate tournament with a round of eight-over, 79, to bring her final score to 23-over, 236, which tied the German international for 46th. Julia Dereniwsky produced a one-over back nine to finish the final round with a score of six-over, 77, and a final tournament total of 24-over, 237, for a tie in 54th place. Ana Paredes tied for 57th place, after her eight-over, 79, in the final round. Anna Millet-Esteve carded a 14-over, 85, to finish in 81st place.
The University of Memphis shot one-over, 285, to bring their final score to 22-over, 874, to win the tournament. Ole Miss secured second place with a 55-over, 907, and Cincinnati rounded out the top-three ten shots behind the Rebels.
Madison Thomas and Ashleigh Whisenant needed a playoff to break their tie at four-over, 217, for the tournament. Thomas defeated her teammate in a one-hole playoff.
The Islanders will head to Tulsa, Okla., and the Oral Roberts University Shootout at Meadowbrook Country Club on Sept. 28.
