2015 Cross Country Camp a Strong Success

CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi cross country program enjoyed a tremendously successful 2015 Islanders Cross Country Camp earlier this month, with the highest number of campers attending the camp in the last five years.

The Islanders saw 117 campers take part in the camp, which saw middle and high schoolers work out multiple times a day. Additionally, the camp directors and staff presented the latest in running from training techniques, theories, nutrition, hydration, running footwear, training philosophies, analysis of form from video tape, pre racing strategies and post race evaluating.

"What an impressive turnout for our cross country camp this year," Director of Track & Field Shawn Flanagan said. "The campers really enjoyed the dorms, campus, dining hall, track stadium and the beach, and it was great for them to be the first-ever group to run on the new Regional cross country meet course. It was an outstanding event."

The camps will be held once again in the summer of 2016.
