OFFICIAL SOUTHLAND RELEASE
CORPUS CHRISTI – Sophomore Brittney Morse has been named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, the league announced today. It marks Morse's first career weekly honor.
"Brittney is having a great year and this past week was just awesome," head coach Stephanie Hughes said. "She is seeing the ball very well right now and I look forward to having her in our lineup for the next few years."
Morse led the Islanders to their fifth Southland Conference series victory of the season with a pair of wins over Abilene Christian. She powered the Islanders' bats with a .583 batting average and went 7-for-12 with three doubles and three home runs to go along with 11 RBIs. Two of her home runs were grand slams and she recorded 19 total bases in four games. She also registered a .643 on-base percentage while slugging an impressive 1.583.
Morse and the rest of the Islanders softball team will return to action this weekend, as they wrap up the regular season with a three-game series against Incarnate Word at Chapman Field. The two teams will play a single game on Friday at 3 p.m., with a doubleheader slated for Senior Day on Saturday starting at noon.
