WACO, Texas - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track and field teams recorded some of its best
performances of the year Saturday at the Baylor Invite headlined by Islanders underclassmen.
Freshman sensation Kemar Mowatt took 11th in the 400 hurdles after winning his heat and finishing with a mark of 52.36 as he broke the school's all-time record in the event.
Sophomore Angelo Garland also highlighted the men's side of things with his 11th place finish in the 400-meter race with a time of 47.62; a season-best time and the fourth best in school history.
Junior sprinter Ebony Collins broke the school record in the women's 200 and was just five one hundredths of a second from taking first-place with a time of 23.93. Collins also took ninth in the 100 meter with a mark of 11.90.
In the women's high jump, sophomore Kerissa Wiley continued her strong outdoor season with a mark of 1.67 meters in the event.
In the women's distance arena, Regina Salinas (4:48.38) finished 16th while Alexandria Rossi (4:54.79) finished 21st. Daniel Guerrero paced the men in the 1500 with a time of 4:07.46 which was good enough for 22nd overall.
In the men's shot put, Ben Clarke set a new personal best and the third-best mark in school history with a distance of 15.19 meters on his way to a sixth-place finish.
Several events were not completed as inclement weather moved into the area forcing the meet to end early.

The team will continue to preparation for the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships as it heads to Houston next weekend for the Rice Invitational.
