HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team repeated its performance from the second round, posting a 318 for the second consecutive day to finish 16th at the Bearcat Spring Invitational. Freshman Anna Millet-Esteve led the way for the Islanders with a 79 on Sunday and a 238 overall.
Freshman Nagisa Miura improved for the third straight round for the Islanders, posting an 80 on Sunday to finish with a three-round 247. Fellow freshmen Julia Dereniwsky and Olivia Lowe each fired an 81 in the third and final round, as Dereniwsky finished with a 241 for the tourney, four strokes ahead of Lowe. Sophomore Ana Paredes shot 89 on Sunday to post a 260 in the 54-hole event.
Memphis delivered a tournament-low 290 in the third round to continue its dominance with a first-place 892. Jacksonville finished a distant 25 strokes back in second place, while Seminole State shot a 923 to finish in third. Host Cincinnati placed fourth with a 926, while North Dakota State rounded out the top five at 927.
Bradley's Danielle Lemek took medalist honors for the tournament, shooting 219 for the three rounds, including a 74 on Sunday. Memphis' Emily Goldenstein was just one stroke back in second place, firing a 220, while Seminole State's Sydney Legacy shot a 221 to finish in third. Memphis' Leighann Cabush came in fourth with a 222, while Jacksonville's Jessica Walsh rounded out the top five with a 225.
The Islanders will return to action on Monday, March 30, as they head to Houston for the HBU Husky Invitational. The event will feature 36 holes on Monday followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday, March 31, at Riverbend Country Club.
