HOWIE-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team cut 14 strokes off its round one score, firing a 318 in the second round of the 2015 Bearcat Spring Classic. Freshman Julia Dereniwsky led the way with a 77 at the Los Colinas Course.
Along with Dereniwsky's 77, Anna Millet-Esteve delivered a 78 to lead the team through two rounds with a 159. Dereniwsky is one shot back with a 160 after 36 holes. Nagisa Miura shot 81 on Saturday to sit at 167, while Olivia Lowe posted an 82 in the second round for a 164 through 36 holes. Ana Paredes delivered an 85 after an opening-round 86.
Memphis maintained its lead in the team competition, posting a 304 on Saturday for a 602 through 36 holes. The Tigers hold a 14-stroke lead over second-place Jacksonville (316-300—616). Seminole State (312-307—619) and North Dakota State (303-316—619) are tied for third, while Cincinnati (312-311—623) sits in fifth at the event.
Bradley's Danielle Lemek (72-73) and Memphis' Emily Goldenstein (70-75) are tied for the individual lead with a 145, five strokes clear of a logjam in third place. Florida Southern's Britta Bernst (75-75), Jacksonville's Sabrina Rumbraugh (81-69) and Seminole State's Sydney Legacy (73-77) are in a three-way tie for third with a 150.
The third and final round of the Bearcat Spring Classic is slated to tee off on Sunday, March 22, with play scheduled to start at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. Live scoring will be available on BirdieFire.com, and updates will be provided on Twitter as they become available.
