Golf Finishes Islanders Classic 11th

CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team shot a second-round 317 to finish in 11th place (325-317— 642) at the 2015 Islanders Classic.

The Islanders saw three players shoot 79 or better in the final 18 holes, with Julia Dereniwsky leading the way with a 76. Ana Paredes and Nagisa Miura each finished at 79, while Olivia Lowe finished day two of the classic with an 83 and Anna Millet-Esteve shot an 84.

Dereniwsky (77-76—153) finished 9th, while Paredes (82-79—161) was eight strokes back, tying for 36th. Miura (83-79—162) improved on her fist round score to finish tied for 41st, and Paredes (83-80—245) was 60th.

Lamar (307-306--613) and Central Arkansas (312-301--613) finished tied for first-place, both shooting 613 over the two-day event. Sam Houston State (309-307--616), Stephen F. Austin (314-312--626) and Houston Baptist (328-303--631) rounded out the top five.

The Islanders will return to the links on March 13-14, as they head to Arizona for the prestigious Rio Verde Invitational. It will mark their fourth straight trip to the tournament.
