The Islanders and Aggies will open their NCAA Tournament at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, in College Station. Joining the Islanders in the sub-regional are Hawaii and TCU.
After sweeping through the Southland Conference Tournament, the Islanders clinched their inaugural berth to the big dance last weekend and Sunday evening, they learned their destination during the NCAA Selection Show Watch Party at Applebee's.
A blue and green clad crowd watched eagerly as the Islanders learned they would travel to the College Station sub-regional and face the No. 10 seed Texas A&M. The matchup will be the third time the Islanders and Aggies have squared off, with the most recent meeting coming last season.
In last season's matchup, the Islanders fell to the Aggies 3-1. The blue and green took the opening set from Texas A&M and nearly took a 2-1 lead in the third, establishing a 19-15 advantage before the Aggies rallied to claim the set.
In what has already been the most successful season in program history, the Islanders will look to add two more marks to their list on Friday: the first NCAA Tournament win in program history and a 32nd victory, which would make this the winningest season by any Southland program.
Coverage of Friday's match will be announced in the coming days and a live stream will be available through Texas A&M.
