Lakewood Ranch, Fla. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team finished Day Two of the 38th Annual Pat Bradley Invitational in 11th place, following a 19-over, 307, beating yesterday's score by four strokes.
"I was proud of how we played consistently," head coach Carol Blackmar said after the round. "We continue to get better in every tournament. We played the toughest nine holes first and faced a strong wind in our faces for a part of that stretch. The team was able to bounce back and play well on the back nine."
A day after shooting a career-best even par, 72, yesterday, Dani Bergmann leads the Islanders in the clubhouse after a 6-over, 78, in the second round. The freshman was 3-over heading into the par-5 18th, but a triple-bogey left the German international tied in 19th at 6-over.
"Dani had an issue on the last hole," added Blackmar. "I think she will use this as an opportunity to get better. Dani, along with the rest of the team, continue to grow stronger, which will make us better in the spring."
A&M-Corpus Christi will have two players start Day Three tied in 35th place. Ana Paredes and Vanessa Johnson carded a 5-over, 77, and a 4-over, 76, respectively, to sit 9-over for the tournament. Johnson went 2-under on her final five holes. Julia Dereniwsky bounced back from a rough round yesterday to shoot 4-over, 76.
Round three of the Pat Bradley Invitational will begin Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. The Islanders will tee off on the back nine in a grouping with Cincinnati and Georgia State.
