CORPUS CHRISTI – Junior Ricardo Mayagoitia has been named the GoIslanders.com Student-
Athlete of the Week, presented by Pepsi. Mayagoitia picks up the award after posting a 6-3, 6-2 straight-set victory to clinch the men's title at the Marco & Co. Catering Islanders Open over the weekend.
The Monterey, Mexico native went 4-0 on the weekend. Mayagoitia captured a 6-1, 6-1 victory and followed it with a 6-1, 6-4 semifinals win over Josip Smoljan of UIW on Friday.
The Islanders will next host the Mercedes-Benz Islanders Tennis Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 9 a.m.
