Golf Finishes 10th at HBU Husky Invitational

HOUSTON – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team shot a third-round 229 on Tuesday to finish in 10th place at the HBU Husky Invitational. The Islanders delivered a 993 (329-335-329) for the entirety of the two-day event.

Lamar shot a tournament-low 296 in the final round to break out of a three-way tie and take the team title at the event. The Cardinals finished seven strokes ahead of Louisiana-Monroe and Central Arkansas, with each team posting a 922 for the Invitational. Host Houston Baptist (932) and Stephen F. Austin (945) rounded out the team top-five.

Individual Raegan Bremer from the University of Houston took the individual title with a three-round 221. Lamar's Taylor Stockton finished three shots back in second place, while UCA's Kendra Mann and ULM's Kathy Sterling finished in a tie for third.

Senior Lindsay Biehler led the Islanders with a 78 on Tuesday to finish in 20th with a three-round 236. Freshman Ana Paredes had her best round of the tournament in the final 18 holes, shooting a 79, as she finished in 47th with a 247. Vanessa Johnson placed 35th with a three-round 243 after carding an 80 in the final 18 holes. Claudia Galindo rounded out the scoring with a 92 on Tuesday.

The Islanders will now have two weeks off before they head to the 2014 Southland Women's Golf Championship, scheduled for April 15-17 at High Meadow Ranch Golf Club in Magnolia, Texas.
