CORPUS CHRISTI – Shay Weaver has been named the GoIslanders.com Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Pepsi.
Weaver played a major role in the Islanders' first win of the year as the team defeated Kent State, 57-47 Friday night in San Luis Obispo, Calif., as a part of the Cal Poly Holiday Tournament. The 5-foot-9 junior scored a career-high 25 points, including a team-high four three pointers to go along with three assists and three steals. She put in eight points Saturday against Cal Poly to go along with nine rebounds in the loss. For her performance over the two-day tournament, Weaver was named to the All-Tournament team.
