LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team shot a final-round 311 to conclude play in 10th place at the Pat Bradley Invitational on Tuesday at Lakewood Ranch Country Club. Freshmen Julia Dereniwsky and Nagisa Miura each shot 75 in the third and final round for the Islanders (321-310-311—942).
"This was a solid end to our fall season," head coach Carol Blackmar said. "I was really proud of the way Julia and Nagisa really stepped up to finish this tournament, but all of our players had plenty of positives to take away. This week, we took a lot of steps toward the goals that we set out to accomplish this fall."
Dereniwsky's 75 gave her a three-round 234 to finish in a tie for 38th place at the event, while Miura finished her 54 holes with a 236 to finish 41st. Ana Paredes shot 80 in the final round on Tuesday to finish the tournament tied for 35th with a 232. Anna Millet-Esteve (80-79-81—240) and Olivia Lowe (84-80-83—247) rounded out the scoring for the Islanders.
Memphis took the team title with an 872 (288-296-288) to best Daytona State (294-296-289—879) by seven strokes. Host Florida International finished third with an 881 (295-294-292), while Jacksonville (298-294-310—902) and Delaware (310-297-296—903) rounded out the top five.
Medalist honors went to DSU's Tiffany Chan, as she shot under par all three rounds to finish at 7-under with a 209 (70-70-69). FIU's Meghan MacLaren carded a 67 on day three to post a 211 (72-72-67), while the low round of the tournament went to third-place Ashley Kees of Memphis. Kees delivered a 66 on Tuesday to finish with a 212 for the event.
The Islanders will now head into their offseason before returning to the links on Monday, Feb. 23, for the Islanders Classic at Corpus Christi Country Club.
