MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team shot a third-round 326 to finish 16th at the Blue Raider Invitational on Tuesday at Old Fort Golf Club. The Islanders shot 968 (324-318-326) for the three-day event.
"I'm pretty disappointed with our performance today," head coach Carol Blackmar said. "We didn't accomplish our goals this weekend. We had a slow start to all three rounds, which put us behind the 8-ball at the very start. We need to get our focus back before we head to Florida in a couple weeks."
Host Middle Tennessee State ran away with the team title, posting a three-round 873 (296-293-284) to finish 22 strokes ahead of second place Oral Roberts (295-299-301—895). Arkansas-Little Rock was third with an 896 (290-302-304), while Tennessee Tech (315-294-297—906) and Missouri State (302-298-310—910) rounded out the top five.
MTSU's Emily Miller and Avery George each shot 217, with Miller winning medalist honors from her teammate in a playoff. TTU's Megan Williamson finished one shot back at 218, while MTSU also saw Allie Knight (4th, 219) and Emily Williams (5th, 220), playing as an individual, finish in the top five.
For A&M-Corpus Christi, sophomore Ana Paredes shot her best round of the tournament on Tuesday, posting a 77 to finish with a three-round 235. Nagisa Miura also saved her best for last with a 79, as she carded a 241. Julia Dereniwsky shot 84 on the final day of action, while Anna Millet-Esteve shot 86 and Olivia Lowe posted an 87.
