RESULTS
HOUSTON – The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi men's and women's track and field teams clocked 12 personal-best times and nine season-best times Saturday at the 10th annual J. Fred Duckett Rice Twilight on the campus of Rice University at Holloway Track and Ley Field.
"It went well today," Head Coach Shawn Flanagan said. "The season is shaping up nicely as we head into the conference championships in a few weeks."
The Islanders had a strong outing in the men's 1500m with all five Islanders clocking either a personal or season-best time. The Islanders also clinched the top four out of six spots, including five in the top 10. Patrick Kimeli led the way with a first-place finish with a season-best time of 3:52.12. Brandon Lacy followed in third place with a season-best time of 3:54.71. Finishing two spots behind Lacy was Paul Hansel in fifth place with a season-best time of 3:56.55 and right behind Hansel, was Christoph Hintz in sixth place with a personal-best time of 3:56.74. Finishing in eighth place was Abel Koskey with a personal-best time of 4:05.03.
In the men's 800m, Cordarius Edmondson finished in second place with a personal-best time of 1:52.78 while Bryce Johnston placed seventh with a personal-best time of 1:54.76. Wesley McGhee finished just outside the top 10 in 11th place with a time of 1:57.08.
David Carrillo had an impressive run in the men's 400m. The junior crossed the line in second place with a personal-best time of 48.56 to place fourth all-time in the record books while William Scott placed second in the men's 400 meter hurdles. Quincy Obeng placed seventh in the men's high jump with a clearance of 1.95m (6' 4¾").
Jason Garcia clocked a personal-best time of 14:57.99 in the men's 5k to place fourth while Justin Adame finished in sixth place with a time of 15:05.48. Jacob Abrego crossed the line with a season-best time of 15:26.84.
Scott, Edmondson, Johnston and Carrillo teamed up in the men's 4x400 meter relay and clocked a season-best time of 3:18.18 to place fourth.
On the women's side, BreAnna Briggs clocked a season-best time of 17:48.54 in the women's 5k to place seventh while Regina Salinas followed in eighth place with a personal-best time of 17:50.27 and Alexandria Rossi clocked a season-best time of 18:50.97.
Alexandra Fernandez placed sixth in the women's 1500m with a time of 4:49.54 while Cecilia Jones finished in seventh place in the 3000m steeplechase with a season-best time of 11:16.53. Finishing behind Jones was Kim Ward in 11th place with a personal-best time of 11:48.26 while Fernandez clocked a time of 12:48.03.
Ebony Collins placed fourth in the women's 200m with a personal-best time of 25.32 while Ashley Rosebrough clocked a season-best time of 26.10. In the women's 100m, Rosebrough crossed the line in sixth place with a time of 12.54 while Collins clocked a time of 12.83.
In the women's 800m, Kayla Castillo led the way in eighth place with a time of 2:19.79 while Ashley Mills placed three spots behind Castillo in 11th place with a time of 2:22.16. Teresa Tauriello, Allison Baker and Paola Perez followed with Tauriello leading the way with a time of 2:23.44. Baker clocked a personal-best time of 2:26.02 and Perez finished with a time of 2:26.97.
Sidney Siepert clocked a time of 1:07.21 to place fourth in the women's 400 meter hurdles while Chelsey Arambula clocked a personal-best time of 1:15.05 to place seventh.
In the field events, Micah Nolan placed fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.60m (5' 3") while Shayla Green marked a personal-best distance of 11.04m (36' 2¾") in the women's shot put to place sixth. Rounding out the field events was Jontavia Dailey in the triple jump with a mark of 10.79m (35' 4¾") to place sixth.
The Islanders will be in action next at the Bobcat Classic on Saturday, April 27, in San Marcos, Texas.

Philipp Baar Has Career Day at Mt. SAC Relays
The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi men's and women's track and field teams wrapped the 55th annual Mt. SAC Relays early this morning. The Islanders clocked season and personal-best times over the two-day event at the Historic Hilmer Lodge Stadium at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif.
"Philipp Baar did great," Head Coach Shawn Flanagan said. "He went from 10th to third in the last 600m. Overall, Jasmine looked good and Roger is coming back from an injury and is making progress."
Philipp Baar and Jasmine Boutte had impressive outings. Baar clocked a personal-best time of 14:25.60 in the 5000m to place third in the Open C division. His time is good for third all-time in program history. Boute clocked a season-best time of 2:13.62 in the women's 800m and Valentinas Rudys finished with a time of 1:53.73 in the men's 800m. Roger De La Cruz rounded out the events with a distance of 2.05m (6' 8¾") in the men's high jump.
On the opening day on Thursday, Baar and Rudys both clocked personal-best times in the men's 1500m. Baar crossed the line with a personal-best time of 3:49.23 to place 26 out of 131 runners while Rudys crossed the line with a personal-best time of 3:54.98.
Boutte recorded a seasonal-best time of 4:42.59 in the women's 1500m while Vanessa Galindo clocked a time of 37:05.01, less than five seconds from her personal-best time of 37:00.62 set at the Texas Relays this season.
