AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi men's and women's track and field teams wrapped competition at the 86th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, hosted by the University of Texas on Friday. The men's 4x1500 meter relay team broke the school record to place fourth at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The Islanders also broke the school record on Thursday in the men's 4x800 meter relay to place fourth.
"It was a good performance all the way around," Head Coach Shawn Flanagan said. "Anytime you can finish fourth in two relays at the Texas Relays is a solid outing."
The Islanders competed in the men's 4x1500 meter relay for just the fourth time in history. The team of Philipp Baar, Paul Hansel, Valentinas Rudys and Daniel Barlow clocked a school-best time of 16:00.14 to place fourth. The Islanders beat the school record time of 16:09.60 set in 2004 at the Texas Relays.
The Islanders started the day in the men's and women's 100m. Ashley Rosebrough clocked a season-best time of 12.25 in the women's 100m dash to place fourth in her heat. In the men's 100m, David Carrillo crossed the line with a time of 10.87 to place fifth in his heat while Eric July recorded a time of 10.96 to place eighth in his heat.
