Islanders Host Most Successful Valentine's Day Run Ever

RESULTS

CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi cross country and track and field teams hosted their annual Valentine's Day Fun Run on Saturday, Feb. 16, and had their largest turnout in 13 years with over 350 runners. Registration began at 7 a.m. with an early two-mile run at 8 a.m. Runners were separated into female and male categories where they were then separated into age divisions.

"It was the largest field we have ever had," Head Coach Shawn Flanagan said. "It went flawless thanks to assistant coaches Cody Knight and Shadrack Songok. It was very competitive and we had some good races. It was a very delightful event and fun was had by all."

Five couples placed in the run, Trevor Crawford and Haley Wifong (1st), Isacc Martinez and Briana Barrera (2nd), Randy Hernandez and Amy Hernandez (3rd), Chris Devlin and Mariana Gonzalez (4th) and Collin Thompson and Abigail Thompson (5th). Several runners participated in the run, ranging from first grade to age 69.

The Islanders men's and women's track and field teams will next be in action when they travel to Norman, Okla. to compete in the two-day Southland Conference Championships on Feb. 22-23.
