CORPUS CHRISTI – Jeramie Marek of Texas A&M - Corpus Christi baseball has been named the GoIslanders.com Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Pepsi. Marek earned the award following his performance against Texas – Pan American and McNeese State last week.
Senior Jeramie Marek had a big week leading up to his final home game as an Islander, hitting .538 while driving in three runs and scoring four. On Tuesday against UTPA, Marek went 2-for-4 at the plate with a stolen base to add to his school-record 41 in a career. Friday night against McNeese State, he went 2-for-4 again with a run scored.
On Senior Day, Marek went a perfect 3-for-3 with a sacrifice fly, three RBI and two runs scored to help the Islanders to an 11-2 win and a series victory. He also had 12 putouts and 10 assists while not committing an error in the field.
Marek and the Islanders will take on Lamar in the second-to-last series of the regular season this weekend.
