2013 Track and Field Schedule (PDF)
CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi track and field team has announced its 2013 track and field schedule, which will include three regular-season indoor meets and nine regular-season outdoor meets.
"It's a good schedule," Director of Track and Field Shawn Flanagan said. "Both our indoor and outdoor schedules allow us to be prepared for the Southland Conference Championships and NCAA West Preliminary rounds."
The Islanders will open the indoor season at Texas Tech on Saturday, Jan. 12, in Lubbock, Texas and will follow it by a Friday meet in Lake Charles, La., at McNeese State on Jan. 18. The Islanders will then travel back to Texas Tech on Saturday, Feb. 2, before finishing the indoor season at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships in Norman, Okla. on Feb. 22-23. The NCAA Indoor Nationals will be held in Fayetteville, Ark., March 8-9.
Texas A&M - Corpus Christi will once again begin the outdoor season at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas, on Sat., March 2, before competing in the Cactus Cup in Kingsville. The Islanders will trek to Houston twice this season to compete at Rice University, once on March 22-23 and again on April 20. The team will also compete in the Texas Relays in Austin and will travel to Texas State in San Marcos twice.
The Islanders will also compete in the UT Invite on April 13 and will travel to Walnut, Calif. to compete in the Mt. SAC Relays on April 18-19.
The team will begin the postseason at the Southland Conference Championships in Lake Charles, La. on May 10-12. The NCAA West Preliminary rounds are set for May 23-25 in Austin and the NCAA Outdoor Nationals will be held in Eugene, Ore., June 5-8.
Along with Flanagan, the Islanders will be under the direction of assistant coach and former Texas A&M - Corpus Christi All-American Hickel Woolery and graduate assistant Cody Knight. Among the top returners are seniors Roger De La Cruz (high jump) and Patrick Kimeli (1500m, 5000m) who both advanced to the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds last season.
