CORPUS CHRISTI - Texas A&M - Corpus Christi softball player Hannah Schwarz will continue her international softball tour with the Canadian National Team in October. Schwarz was recently one of 17 players selected to play at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
"This is a tremendous and well deserved honor for Hannah to continue playing with the Canadian National Team at the Pan American Games," Islanders' head coach Stephanie Hughes said. "I have no doubt she will represent Canada and Texas A&M - Corpus Christi very well."
The Kerrville, Texas native has had a whirlwind of a summer, participating in tournaments for Team Canada and traveling all over North America. In July she was named to the Softball Canada Women's National team and helped her team to a third-place finish at the U.S. World Cup of Softball, becoming the first-ever Islanders player to medal at the World Cup of Softball.
"This will only bring more experience to our current team and pride to the program, along with exposure to the university as a whole," Hughes added. "We will miss her, but we will keep up with her successes and cheer her on from the Island!"
Schwarz, is the first player in softball program history to participate in the Pan American Games. The games will take place Oct. 17-23.
