San Antonio - Friday night the Texas A&M - Corpus Christi
track and field team made the most of their last performance,
before next week's Texas Relays. Ernestine Cray competing in the
triple jump broke the school record in the triple jump with a mark
of 12.29m.
Another standout performance at the Trinity University Alumni
Classic was Sarah Kimaiyo in the 800m running the second best time
in school history at 2:14.25. Danielle Higgins was just behind her
at 2:19.30.
Kristine Torres 4:45.12 and Caitlin Arumbula 4:45.19 went one
and two in the 1500m. Shelby Nichols was just behind was a fourth
place finish.
Brandi Huff after the first day of the heptathlon is the leader
by 100 points. Tomorrow that event will conclude with the long
jump, javelin and 800m.
William Scott was victorious in the men's 400m hurdles with a
time of 54:34 seconds. Adrian Marquez qualified for the conference
meet in the 1500m with a lifetime best of 4:01.16.
Roger De La Cruz was second in the high jump with a mark of
2.08m.
"I thought we had had good performances all around tonight,"
said director of track and field Shawn Flanagan "Ernestine, Sarah
and Brandi highlighted but William and Adrian also competed
well."
Huff will be the only member of the team competing on Saturday
as the heptathlon concludes
