Texas A&M - Corpus Christi junior Jordan
Trujillo has been named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the
week by a vote of the league sports information directors. It is the first honor of the
season for the Sierra Vista, Ariz. native.
Trujillo amassed a 3-0 record on the week with
a 1.15 ERA as the Islanders swept conference series' against UTSA
and Southeastern Louisiana. On the season, she is now 8-2 with a
2.50 ERA while the team has won 11-straight games and is now 16-5
on the year.
In the first game against UTSA, she tossed a
complete game shutout, pitching seven innings while giving up just
three hits and no runs while walking three and striking out a
season-high 10 batters to pick up the win.
In her second appearance against the
Roadrunners, she pitched 6.1 innings while fanning nine batters and
walking just three once again. She gave up three hits and three runs
as the Islanders prevailed 9-6.
Her final win came against SELA when she
pitched five innings for her second complete game shutout of the
week. She held the Lady
Lions to just two hits and walked one while striking out four
batters in the abbreviated game. Texas A&M - Corpus Christi took
the game by a final of 16-0 over the visiting team in the first
game of the series.
The Islanders will put their win streak on the
line Tuesday when they host the Houston Baptist Huskies at Chapman
Field. The two teams will
play a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. with the second game
scheduled for a 4 p.m. start on campus.
