Corpus Christi - This weekend Kassandrea Son will represent the
Texas A&M - Corpus Christi track & field team at the Air
Force Invite in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The meet will take
place at the Cadet Field House on Friday and
Saturday.
Last year, Son competed at the Air Force Invite, in which she
broke her own school record in the long jump with a mark of
19-07-05 (5.98m) and finished fourth in that event. In the 60m dash
she finished in fourth place with a final time of 0:07.64.
"I'm excited to have Kassandrea back at Air Force this year,"
said track and field head coach Randy Bungard. "They put on a great
meet and that is where she set the school record in the long jump
last year, hopefully she will have the same success there again
this weekend and keep her strong season going as we head into the
conference meet in a couple weeks."
On Wednesday, Son was named the Southland Conference women's
athlete of the week for the second time this season. She also won
the award on Jan. 26.
