CORPUS CHRISTI – Sophomore Isabella Arcidiacono has been named the GoIslanders.com Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Pepsi. Arcidiacono earned the award for her performance over the weekend against Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin.
Arcidiacono set a new career-high in kills with 19 against Sam Houston State on Saturday as she led the Islanders to their first Southland Conference victory. In addition to the 19 kills, she had a .298 attack percentage, six block assists and six digs as her team rallied from down 2-1 to take a 3-2 win.
In the first match of the week, Arcidiacono added 16 kills while playing in just three of the five sets in the match. She also added four block assists as the Islanders came up just short against the Ladyjacks. For the week, she totaled 35 kills and a .373 attack percentage to go along with 10 total blocks in two matches.
The Islanders host first-place UTSA tonight in conference action at 7 p.m.
