CORPUS CHRISTI – Senior Ryann White and sophomore Micah Nolan have been named the GoIslanders.com Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Pepsi. White and Nolan have earned the award for their recording breaking performances.
White matched the school record and shot the low round of her collegiate career, a 69, in the second round of the Harold Funston Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 11. White's impressive second round led her to a second-place finish at the event, as she finished one shot off the title. She posted a 73 in the opening round of the event to deliver a two-round 142 in the rain-shortened event.
Nolan set an Islanders single-match record with 39 digs against the Nicholls Colonels to help lead her team to the win on Thursday. Nolan added an additional 12 digs in her team's 3-0 sweep over Southeastern La. on Saturday. For the week, she totaled 62 digs in 11 sets for a 5.64 digs per set average. Additionally, the sophomore added three service aces, seven assists and three kills as the Islanders finished the week 2-1.
