The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis program added
Sandra Burges during the spring signing period as Director of
Tennis Steve Moore and his coaching staff continue to build the
roster for contention in the Southland Conference.
Burges is a native of Cuarte (Zaragoza), Spain and will be
enrolling at the university and compete for the tennis team this
coming fall as a freshman. Her highest ranking in Spain was a No.
87 national ranking among all senior levels, including players
ranked by the WTA, the worldwide professional tennis tour for
women. She was the winner of the Aragon Regional Under-16
Championship and finished as the runner-up by teams in the Spain
National 2nd Division Championship.
She is the daughter of Juan Burges and Ana Cristina Madorran and
has been around tennis her entire life as her father is a teacher
as well as a tennis coach.
Burges plans to major in business at Texas A&M-Corpus
Christi while helping the Islander women's tennis program compete
for the Southland Conference Championship.
