The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team will host Central
Arkansas in its first Southland Conference home series of the
season starting on Saturday. The teams will play a doubleheader on
Saturday starting at 1 PM with the single game on Sunday beginning
at 10 AM.
The Islanders come into the series with a 13-5 record overall
and a 1-2 Southland record. The Bears come into the contest with a
6-10 record this season and will be playing in their first
Southland Conference series.
After starting the season a red-hot 12-3, the Islanders stumbled
in the opening Southland series, losing the opening game of the
series 12-2 in five innings before rebounding for a 6-3 win in the
nightcap on Tuesday. In the Wednesday game, the Islanders once
again could not find their rhythm offensively and fell by a 5-4
final.
On the season, the Islanders have been a powerful offensive
club, hitting 18 home runs and scoring 110 runs through just 18
games so far. They have seven players hitting over .340 on the
year and five players with more than 10 RBI on the season.
