Landry Moore used a fourth
inning explosion in the finale of the Islander Classic to power her
way to the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week award. Moore, a
junior catcher from Houston, hit .750 on the week with six RBI and
two home runs to take her first-ever weekly honor.
After going 1-for-2 with a double in her first start of the
tournament against Boston College, Moore went 2-for-2 with a grand
slam and a two-run homer against Southern on Sunday afternoon to
finish the week with 2.500 slugging percentage and .800 on-base
percentage. The six RBI in one inning set a new Islander record
after Brittany
Tucker had five in one inning the day before for TAMUCC.
Overall on the week, Moore was 3-for-4 with six RBI, one double,
two home runs and one walk. For the season, Moore is hitting .600
with a 2.000 slugging percentage and a .667 on-base percentage.
She also has one sacrifice hit and two runs scored.
Moore and the Islanders are back in action starting Thursday
when they host the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach Invitational at
Chapman Field. First up for the Islanders is Houston Baptist at
3:00 PM on Thursday afternoon. TAMUCC will also play North Dakota
and UL Monroe twice each throughout the weekend.
