A&M-Corpus Christi shortstop Brycen Bell has been named to the
Capital One Bank/Southland Conference All-Academic Baseball Team
the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Bell was one of seven players automatically selected for the team
after being voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VI second
team. The
senior from Fort Collins, Colo. is a Bio-Medical Sciences major who
boasted a 3.69 overall grade point average entering the spring
semester. Before transferring to TAMUCC, Bell spent two seasons at
Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kan. where he was an
All-Jayhawk Conference team member as well as maintaining a 4.0
grade point average. On the field, Bell hit a career high
.269 with a home run and 18 RBI. The committed three errors in the
in final 27 games after recovering from shoulder issues.
The all-academic teams
are voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and
academic/compliance administrators from each Southland university.
Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA, have completed
one full academic year at the nominating institution and
participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competition to
qualify for the all-academic squad.
