Texas A&M
University-Corpus Christi golf coach Carol Blackmar has announced
the signing of Ryann White of
Coronado High School in Lubbock to a National Letter of Intent.
White, a
three-year letterwinner at Coronado, comes to the Island University
after earning three letters for the duo of Larry and Marian Barker.
As a senior, White placed first in the district and was third in
the region. She was 12th at the 5A state meet with a two-round
score of 157 as the Mustangs placed second as a team.
"Ryann is a
tough competitor and will be a great addition to our program," said
Blackmar. "She was a soccer player until picking up golf as a
sophomore. She has really improved since then. Being such a new
player to the game, she has such an upside. I think she will really
take off on the college level."
She joins the
duo of Chelsea Watkins and Courtney Peeler, who signed with the
Islanders during the early singing period.
