HUNTSVILLE Sam Houston State won four of five
singles matches including a win by default to take a 5-1 win over
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
For the
second-straight match, Alexandra Dyckman won her singles match,
taking down Eleonora Kuruc 2-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-5) at the No. 2
position.
At the No. 1
spot, Irina Sotnikova took down Nina Ciric 6-2, 6-1, while Peta
Taylor took a 6-2, 6-0 win over Megan Harless at the No. 3
position. Stasa Vujosevic
won her match 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8) over Alexandra Valarezo, while
Patricia Manzur took down Jessica Gonzalez, 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 5
spot.
"I am happy
that the girls are playing as hard as they can. They play every point like it's the
last and that shows a lot of character," head coach Steve Moore
said.
