The Texas
A&M University-Corpus Christi men's tennis team will try to
make it two wins in a row when they head to
Houston to take on Arizona at Rice University at Noon.
Saturday.
The Islanders,
(1-2) moved up two spots in the national rankings to No. 43 after
playing then No. 30 Clemson and No. 4 Baylor in two close matches
before beating Prairie View A&M 6-0. Arizona will enter the match with a
perfect 4-0 record with three of the four wins being 7-0
sweeps.

Christi's lineup features two freshmen, two sophomores, two juniors
and one senior. Freshman
Laurent Montoisy, who is undefeated in three doubles matches and
has won two of three singles matches thus far, has played at both
the No. 1 and No. 2 positions this season. Junior Mike Pavlov is 3-0 in singles
play, including a three-set win over David Gaelic of Baylor.
"We have
competed very well thus far," director of tennis operations Steve
Moore said. "I am very
impressed with the way the young guys are playing."
The Wildcats
have posted wins over Northern Arizona, Scottsdale Community
College and San Francisco, all 7-0 sweeps, and recently defeated
Pacific University 6-1.
After the
Arizona match, the Islanders will take on TCU on Monday in Fort
Worth on Monday. "These are
two very good teams we will be playing with deep histories. I have no doubt that both of
these teams will be in the top-30 before the year is over," Moore
said.
