FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.Shadrack Songok just missed adding another
major accomplishment to his resume with a strong performance at the
prestigious Tyson Invitational hosted by Arkansas on Friday when he
placed fourth in the mile.
Songok stopped
the clock in a time of 4:01.03 just missing a four-minute mile
indoors. His time is the second-best in the Southland this season
and would be the 15th-fastest time in the mile this year on the
collegiate level based on the times entering the weekend. The time
makes Songok a provisional qualifier for his first NCAA Indoor
Championship.
Texas' Jake
Morse and Kyle Miller finished one-two in 4:00.41 and 4:00.50,
respectively. Micky Corbin of Arkansas was third in 4:00.87.
Songok is the
only Islander competing at the meet as the rest of the team
prepares for the Southland Conference Indoor Championship.
