DENTON
The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team finished
its opening tournament of the fall in 14th spot finishing the
rain-shortened North Texas Women's Golf Classic with a two-round
score of 650 at Robson Ranch Country Club.
Ashley
Olynick again led the Islanders as she was the only player to break
80 finishing with a 79 on the second day for a total of 156 to move
from 30th to 24th as an individual. Katie O'Donnell recorded an 81
for the second round in a row. Chelsey Cooper shot an 84 in the
second round to end the event with a 165.
Freshman
Holly Baker made the most improvement over her first day round
lowering her score five strokes with an 81 to tally a 167. Fellow
freshman Kristin Foyteck trimmed four strokes off her opening round
of 89 to finish with a 174.
As
a team, the Islanders posted combined rounds of 325 each day.
Sam
Houston State and Oklahoma City finished the tournament tied for
the team title with two-day totals of 609. Susan Nam won the
individual crown with a one-over score of 145, while Sam Houston's
Stefanie Page was second with a 146.
The
Islanders are off until competing in the Oral Roberts Invitational
in Tulsa, Okla. on Oct. 1-2.
