The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
women's tennis team finished its season with a strong 6-1 win over
McNeese State on Sunday to finish the season with a 6-13 record.
The Islanders lost 5-2 to Lamar on Saturday.
With the split in the final
weekend, A&M-Corpus Christi finished the season with a 6-13
mark and a 4-7 record in Southland Conference play.
Against the Cowgirls, the Islanders
won five of six singles matches and two doubles' matches. Amanda
Brahim lost just on game in her final collegiate match defeating
Hanna Bihorac, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6, while Nina Ciric won 6-3, 6-4 at
No. 3 singles. Carmen Abeaboeru, Erika Iriarte, and Alexandra
Valarezo each won three set contests. Iriarte's was her team-best
tenth of the season.
In doubles, Alexandra Dyckman and
Ciric won 8-0 at No. 2, while Brahim and Valarezo won at No. 3,
8-4, to clinch the doubles point.
On Saturday, Brahim handed Manami
Kuroda a 6-4, 6-3 loss. Valarezo won by default as Lamar had just
five players available.
