Honors continue to
flow in for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi cross country runner
Shadrack Songok as he was named to the
United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association
All-Academic team recently.
Songok, who
finished 19th at the NCAA Cross Country Championship this past fall
to earn All-American honors, carries a 3.314 grade-point average in
Chemistry. The native of Kapsabet, Kenya, who won the NCAA South
Central Regional and Southland Conference individual crowns and
this past fall, was also an All-American last spring in the
5,000-meter run with a fifth-place finish. He was the Southland
Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year in cross country.
To earn
All-Academic individual honors, a runner must have a 3.25
grade-point average or better and place among the top 15 or top-10
percent at an NCAA Regional event. Fifty men were honored during
the 2006 season.
