Virginia Commonwealth cruised to a 3-0 win over Texas
A&M-Corpus Christi in the first match of the BYU Molten Classic
as it handed the Islanders their fourth-straight loss.
The Rams swept the match, 30-19, 30-15, 30-17 taking just over an
hour to put the Islanders away.
A&M-Corpus Christi had more errors (27) than kills (24) in the
match, hitting -.030 while VCU was efficient with a .352 mark. The
Rams had 46 kills with just 14 errors and had three players with at
least 10 kills for the match.
Lauren Paslay and Lynn Elsberry had seven kills each, but no other
Islander had more than three kills offensively. Defensively, VCU
had 19 block assists to the Islanders' two. TAMUCC's Laura North
had 13 digs to lead the Islanders.
The Islanders will take on BYU at 1 p.m. CST tomorrow, followed by
a 6 p.m. matchup with No. 3 Stanford.
