HUNTSVILLE --
The third game in the C. W. Lighting Invitational between Sam
Houston State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi was suspended due to
rain in the sixth inning Friday night with the score tied 1-1.
The two teams have tentatively scheduled 10 a.m. Sunday to resume
play prior to the Islanders game with Southern Illinois. Saturday
at 1 p.m. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi plays Dallas Baptist and at
4 p.m. SHSU hosts Southern Illinois.
Miguel Mercado's RBI single to left field scored Clint Galloway in
the top of the first inning to account for the Islanders' run.
Galloway reached first on an error to lead off the game, then was
sacrificed to second base. It was the first time this season that
the Islanders scored first in a contest.
Ryan Trevino's single in the third inning tied the contest. With
two out, Nick Zeleski walked and moved to second on a Jeremy
Holzbach single before scoring on Trevino's hit.
In Friday's first game, Southern Illinois defeated Dallas Baptist
8-5.
