HUNTSVILLE - Christy Feliz tallied 21 kills to
lead the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders to a 3-0 sweep over
Sam Houston to win their fifth-straight match. The Islanders'
30-26, 30-27, 32-30 win was their fourth sweep of the season and
have won three of the last four matches without losing a game.
Feliz reached the 20-kill barrier for the third time this season
and did it with efficiency, committing just six errors in 59
attacks. Kasey McBrearty was the only other Islander to garner
double-digit kills with 11, while Lauren Paslay had nine.
Feliz picked up her 11th double-double of the season with 20
digs defensively, while libero Laura North had 21. As a team, the
Islanders had 99 digs which sets a record for digs in a three-game
match.
The Islanders now sit at 5-6 in Southland Conference play and
will travel to Nacogdoches tomorrow to face league-leader Stephen
F. Austin.
