The eighth-annual Islander Invasion was another success as more
than 600 fans packed into Moody Field House to get a glimpse of the
2006-07 men's and women's basketball teams.
Part of the festivities was a three-point contest, which the women
have won the past two years. This year, the men broke the streak,
taking an overall 55-39 win. Freshman Brandon Roberson was the
individual champion, defeating Kirbria Lewis, 7-3 in the overtime
round after the two tied at 14 in the first round of the
finals.
Women's head coach Robert Robinson and men's head coach Ronnie
Arrow both addressed the crowd saying they were thankful for the
support and look forward to their first season in the Southland
Conference.
Special thanks to Pizza Hut for providing pizza as well as
Coca-Cola for soft drinks. Best Buy and Islander Sports Bar and
Grill provided door prizes.
