Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men?s head basketball coach Ronnie
Arrow announced the addition of Rashad Mintz to the Islander
basketball program.
Mintz, a 5-10 point guard from Howard Community College, averaged
11 points and three assists and hit 47 percent from beyond the
three point line in leading the Hawks to a 27-6 record. He also
helped lead the Howard program to a conference championship as well
as leading them to the regional finals.
"Rashad brings a point guard mentality as well as a winning
attitude to the team. His greatest strengths are his ability to
make the rest of the team around him better and to score when he is
open. He will fit in to our running style immediately. Rashad is an
extremely important addition to our team and has three years of
eligibilty with us," Arrow said.
"Rashad started every game for us on a young team that had just
two sophomores, but was extremely successful. He was the best
three-point shooter and best ball-handler we had on the team. He
was an extremely hard worker and is extremely coachable. I have no
doubt that he will be a tremendous asset for the Islanders. I have
known Coach Arrow for a long time and have a lot of respect for him
as a coach. I am pleased that Rashad will get to play for such a
quality program," Howard head coach Mark Adams said.
Mintz joins Manuel Johnson and Adan Montalvo as newcomers to the
Islander program.
