Whitney Stromgren, junior from Topeka, Kan., was the lone
Islander on the 2004-05 NCAA Division I All-Independent Golf Team,
while senior Tiffany Soza was named to the second team.
Stromgren finished the year with a 78.7 stroke average in 24
rounds, which was fifth best among independent golfers. She
finished the season with four top-10 performances as well as two
top-five finishes. She shot a career-best 223 to lead the Islanders
to a third place finish at the Bronc Classic in Edinburg earlier
this season. Her season average now lands her fourth all-time on
the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi list for a season.
Soza, the lone senior on the team finished her final year of
collegiate golf with a stroke average of 80.0 after 24 rounds,
leading the team in scoring once this season.
The Edinburg native finished her career ranked fifth on the TAMUCC
all-time career stroke average list as well as ranking fourth on
the all-time 36-hole scoring list.
