AUSTIN ? Samantha Spaulding became the first women?s
track-and-field athlete at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to qualify
for the NCAA Regional when she recorded a school-record time of
1:00.67 in the 400-meter hurdles to finish third in her heat
highlighting the Islanders second day of action at the Texas Relays
at Mark Myers Stadium.
In other action, Andrew Fogle finished seventh in his heat in the
men?s 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.68, while Karla West, who
joined Spaulding in the 400-meter hurdles, was fifth in her heat.
The foursome of Mark Moralez, Luis Garcia, Greg Freeman, and Abel
Obregon finished 15th in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of
7:50.22.
The Relays continue through Saturday.
