Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women?s head basketball coach Jodi
Kest has announced the hiring of Debra Roof to become the newest
member of the Islander coaching staff. Roof will serve as assistant
coach under Kest along with Rob Robinson.
Roof came from Cleveland State University where she served as an
assistant coach for the past 10 years, six of which were served as
recruiting coordinator.
Roof and Kest worked together at Cleveland State during the
1992-93 season, both serving as assistant coaches. ?Since Deb and I
have already worked together, I know she will do an outstanding
job. I have no doubt she will love living in Corpus Christi and
will enjoy the atmosphere at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.? Kest
Said. ?She provides our program with 10 years of coaching
experience at the Division I level and a great knowledge for the
game.?
Not only did Roof coach at CSU, she was a highly decorated player
for the Vikings from 1987-91. She ended her career ranked in the
top 10 in assists at Cleveland State. She was twice named the
recipient of the CSU Viking Award which recognizes team dedication
and leadership.
Roof takes the place of Bob Boldon, who took the head coaching
position at Arkansas-Monticello.
